Shockwave therapy is a non-surgical treatment, targeted to specific damaged tissues within an abnormal tendon. This increases the blood flow within the affected area, stimulates cell regeneration and healing, and decreases local factors which can cause pain.
Before shockwave therapy is considered you will have a full clinical assessment. This may include an MRI or ultrasound scan.
When investing in advanced technology it is important to ensure accuracy and reliability of the equipment along with the backing of well respected research. We are pleased to inform you that as a practice we have now invested in a Swiss Dolorcast Master 27 Shockwave Therapy Machine. This is the machine that was used in trials conducted by NICE and on which guidelines for application are based.
Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy treatment is a highly effective treatment available for patients with:
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Shoulder pain
- Tennis elbow
- Achilles Tendonopathy
- Trochanteric bursitis (Lateral hip pain)
